In 1960 Daytona Superspeedway hosted this sportsman race. 68 cars entered into the race, back then there were a maximum of 68 cars in a superspeedway race. This was Neil's first race since he was seriously injured at Darlington three years earlier, and any kind of head trama could have killed him. He was lucky to walk away alive. He tumbles several time violently twards pit road and finally stops in the infeild grass. He recieved two black eyes yet started the Daytona 500. Earnhardt some how maintained car control to finish seventh. Meanwhile there was an amazing 5-car battle for the lead where the margin of victory was a mere fourteen one-thousands of a second.
